The Lord wants those that follow Him to be happy but so many of us have the wrong viewpoint of what true happiness is. One Bible Dictionary defines “Blessed” as “to be happy, spiritually prosperous with life, to have joy, and satisfaction in God's favor and salvation regardless of outward conditions." In a sermon entitled “Blessed and Happy”, Pastor Don Modglin preaches a sermon based on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount and His Beatitudes found in the text in Luke 6:20-21. Here Christ turns the popularly held notions of blessings, happiness and prosperity right side up and shows us the path to true happiness. Pastor Don exhorts us to look vertically and not horizontally; to look to the truth of God and not simply to compare ourselves to those around us.
